Overview

A fake letter is making crowds on social media, this letter is spreading misinformation about the DA's position on forming a coalition with the ANC. The fake letter has Dr Ivan Meyer, the DA's Federal Chairperson as the writer and has a DA letterhead addressed to the ANC.

Background & Outcome

On the strength of the DA's denial of the authenticity of the letter, the information is false and misleading. In the context of the electorate deciding which party to vote for in the upcoming elections, this information is harmful in that it distorts the truth and effectively manipulates the electorate.
