Overview

IOL article "full of lies and inconsistencies on the iec, mma and Oppenheimer Memorial Trust".

Background & Outcome

The writer of the article is deliberately conflating concepts for the sake of misleading the public. The fact that the IEC has partnered with organisations like MMA, Meta and Google does not in itself mean the IEC is not impartial. If the IEC were funded by the listed funders who fund MMA and other political parties, then the impartiality of the IEC "can be disputed". No real distinction between the tweet and the article as the tweet leads the reader to the article which contains the deliberately crafted misleading information. The article effectively disputes the IEC's impartiality on the basis of the funders of the organisations that the IEC has partnered with to strengthen the electoral process. The attempt is to reduce constitutional principles to the political arena and ensure the loss of public confidence in the IEC.
