False letter purporting to be from the US Embassy addressed to Helen Zillie effectively endorsing the so-called DA's pursuit of an independent Western Cape.

Background & Outcome

Notwithstanding the forged letter (which is problematic), the DA has publicly stated that it does not advocate for Cape independence. In an election period this could cause public harm in the sense that it interferes with the electorate's right to vote as decisions could potentially be based on this false and misleading information. Pure disinformation.
